SIGN OUR PETITION TO STOP SENATE DEMOCRATS FROM KILLING JOBS

I AGREE THAT SENATE DEMOCRATS ARE KILLING JOBS BY:

  • Voting to make it harder for businesses to get loans they need to operate and pay their employees (09SB2)
  • Voting to increase costs on small businesses (09SB1)
  • Passing a massive quarter billion dollar tax increase on Wisconsin businesses, which will kill jobs and drive businesses out (09Act2)
  • Raising government spending last year from $58.6 to $62.2 billion, and raising by $4.8 billion (09Act28)
  • Voting to support a bill that is directly to blame for killing 800 new jobs in Eau Claire County alone (07SR7) Read More by clicking this link to the news story: http://www.leadertelegram.com/story-news.asp?id=BJIFVM3IJ2S

… WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO POOR RANKINGS FOR WISCONSIN'S JOBS AND ECOMONIC RECOVERY:

·Forbes ranked Wisconsin 48th in its 2009 Best States for Business (3rd worst in the country)

·Forbes ranked 397 cities to find the best and worst cities to find a job.Janesville ranked 7th worst, Fond du Lac and Racine in the bottom 20, while Wisconsin's best showing (Oshkosh/Neenah) only reached #145.

·Unemployment figures show that Wisconsin has lost nearly 150,000 jobs since the month before Democrats took control of state government. The unemployment rate went from 7.1% statewide in December, 2008 to 9.8% in March, 2010.

… WHILE MANY GOOD-PAYING JOBS ARE LEAVING FOR JOB-FRIENDLY STATES:

Harley-Davidson: After being hit with a $22.5 million tax increase Harley announced the layoff of 400 workers. Harley announced that it will build a new plant, but Wisconsin was not considered.Recently, Harley announced it may lay off 1,400 Wisconsin employees and move operations to other states.

GM: Closed its Janesville plant in December 2008 (1,200 jobs lost) and located 1,500 new jobs in Michigan.GM planned to add 2,400 workers in KS, MI, and IN but left the Janesville plant closed.Recently GM told its laid-off Janesville employees to report to new jobs in Ohio or lose their unemployment benefits.Up to 1,800 jobs are being created in Ohio instead of Wisconsin to start a new assembly line.

Gardner Denver (Thomas Products Division): Announced April 2009 they will move all operations to Louisiana, cutting 366 jobs in Sheboygan. Their plant in Louisiana will grow from 71 positions to more than 300 positions by 2011.

Chrysler announced in May, 2009 it will close its Kenosha engine factory and move operations and 800 Wisconsin jobs to Michigan and Mexico.

Briggs & Stratton Corporation announced in July, 2009 that it will close its Jefferson and Watertown plants, resulting in an elimination of 530 jobs by 2010.The Business Journal reports "the company will add a substantial number of jobs in Georgia and Alabama."

Parker Pen manufacturer in Janesville announced in September, 2009 it is closing its doors and moving 153 jobs out of Wisconsin to Mexico and Illinois.

THE SOLUTION IS TO ELECT A PRO-JOBS REPUBLICAN MAJORITY

Senate Republicans must pick up 2 seats in order to regain the majority so we can undo the damage done to our economy by job-killing Democrats. The Wisconsin Jobs Now Taskforce Report, and the Global Wisconsin plan, lay the foundation for our common-sense pro-jobs agenda, called the Wisconsin Jobs Now Agenda. When we regain the majority, our goals will be to:

  • Rebuild our economy through the retention and creation of jobs.
  • Reverse Wisconsin's ranking as one of the highest-taxed states in the nation, to one of the lowest-taxed states in the nation.
  • Improve Wisconsin's ranking as one of the worst states for business to one of the best for job creation.
  • Advance the Global Wisconsin plan and implement recommendations from the Wisconsin Jobs Now Task Force to meet our business and tax climate goals.

Please support pro-jobs candidates by signing our petition, or contributing to pro-jobs candidates who will vote the right way to grow and create jobs in Wisconsin.
